In alignment with the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) Sport for One Humanity campaign, Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM) proudly displayed the campaign’s messages at the UIPM 2024 Pentathlon World Cup Budapest held in Budapest. This initiative aims to elevate the universality of sport and its unifying power by partnering with global sports bodies and institutions to foster a more equitable and inclusive sports culture that fully respects the dignity and human rights of all participants.
The Sport for One Humanity campaign seeks to utilize the power and reach of sport to promote positive social change, contributing to a more sustainable and peaceful world. At the Budapest World Championship, UIPM prominently featured a banner to raise awareness about the vital role that sport can play in promoting equality and the need for the sports industry to align with this cause.
UIPM is committed to making the sport accessible to all, regardless of gender, age, or ethnic background, including at the Paralympic level. By actively participating in the Sport for One Humanity campaign, UIPM underscores its belief that sport can serve as a powerful vehicle for social change.
“Sport has an unparalleled ability to unite people and foster a sense of community,” said, UIPM President Dr Klaus Schormann, “By displaying the Sport for One Humanity banner at the World Cup in Budapest, we aimed to highlight our commitment to inclusivity and equality, showing that everyone can participate and excel in Modern Pentathlon, the Sport created by Pierre de Coubertin, founder of the new Olympic Games.”
This initiative is part of a broader effort that includes a variety of activities and programs designed to emphasize the importance of inclusion and equality in sports. Through collaboration with UNAOC and other global sports organizations, UIPM aspires to lead by example and inspire other sports and institutions to embrace these values.
